Reflection 2 - Administration of BEC

A Reflection Paper on the 2nd Meeting of the
EDAD 207 Class of Dr. Olga Alonsabe

From our brainstorming on the Topic of EFA (Education For All) 2015, I had deduced that the trend of the educational programs offered are more focused on developing the special skills of the Filipino citizens that aims at providing quality education to all citizenry regardless of age, gender, culture, economic status, and the like. This implicates that no child or minor individual is left working for a living; rather, everybody is coming to school to be educated with the hope that education can still help alleviate the existing problem on poverty. It was further discussed by Dr. Alonsabe that EFA aims at the 100% participation rate by the year 2015. This is statistically improbable, I agree, considering the socio-economic factors, peer and teacher factors and the enticement of the modern technology toward the school-aged learners.

I have become interested to develop a study that will help address the problem on low participation rate in our district. I wish to contribute something to the existing knowledge regarding the EFA 2015 program in application to our locality. I realize that the issue of child labor is no ordinary. It has to be addressed properly through concerted efforts by the stakeholders, LGU, NGO, and the entire community members. This truth makes me understand better the concept of EFA being Education Of All, as expounded in the class discussion. Thus, education is basically child-centered. Meaning that, all efforts of the government to make the Department of Education better has been done for the sincerest intent of educating functionally literate individuals imbued with the necessary skills to become self-productive toward national development.

If I will become a school administrator, my very first target to achieve just before the formal classes start will be to assure 100% participation rate. I can make this possible by sincerely talking to the parents and make some arrangements or negotiations with them regarding this matter. My second target will be to conduct a refreshment orientation on the dos and don’ts on the part of the teacher in the implementation of the Child-Friendly School System in order to elicit love for school upon the pupils. I must be consistently on watch for the teacher’s behavior inside the classroom even without my presence at school. My last target will be to maintain excellence and quality services of education offered for the pupils, parents, and community. Our school shall be able to create a legacy for the neighboring schools to follow and serve as a model of good-will.
